How Solo GCs Actually Use SnapTakeoff

Three workflows that solo contractors use every day — versus what they were doing before.

Solo GC Workflows

Photo Upload

Snap a few photos on your phone before tearing anything out. SnapTakeoff processes the images and extracts material quantities automatically.

Verify the Numbers

Pull up quantities on-site. Compare against the room dimensions you already know. You're not relying on black-box output — you spot-check in seconds.

Send to Supplier

Export formatted material lists. Use them to get quotes from your lumber yard or flooring supplier without re-entering everything by hand.

Build Your Bid

Plug material costs into your quote tool. You're estimating from real numbers, not guesswork, and you can show a breakdown if a client asks.

What Changes

Faster Than Manual

No measuring tape, no scratch paper, no spreadsheet re-entry. One contractor finishing a kitchen bid in 20 minutes — not the afternoon.

Lower Overhead

No annual contract, no minimum seat count, no full PM suite you don't need. Just the takeoff tool your job demands.

Job-Site Ready

Access takeoffs on your phone between appointments. No laptop required. No need to be back at the office where the CAD station lives.

Common Questions

What if a material isn't in your catalog?

SnapTakeoff covers the most common residential materials — lumber, flooring, tile, drywall, insulation, roofing. For specialty items, the tool flags what it can't identify so you can add it manually. Coverage is expanding based on user feedback.

Can I use SnapTakeoff with no cell service?

SnapTakeoff requires an internet connection to process photos. You can snap the photos offline and upload them when you get signal — most job sites have cell coverage. Full offline mode is a planned feature for release in 2025.

How long does it take to get a takeoff back?

Most standard takeoffs process in under 5 minutes. You upload the photos, select the job type, and receive material quantities with cost estimates. Complex multi-room projects may take longer depending on the number of photos.

How accurate are the material estimates?

Estimates are based on image analysis of the photos you upload. Accuracy depends on photo quality and job complexity. We recommend verifying against known room dimensions or site measurements before locking in a final bid. The tool is a takeoff aid, not a substitute for on-site judgment.

Can I import my floor plans instead?

Currently, SnapTakeoff works from photos. Upload your floor plans only if they include dimensions in the image. Our roadmap includes direct plan upload for version 2.0, planned for late 2025.

Do I need a contractor's license to use it?

No professional license is required — SnapTakeoff is built for solo GCs who already hold their state contracting license where required. The tool itself is a takeoff and estimating aid, same as a spreadsheet, and doesn't require any additional credentials to access.

Is there a free trial or money-back guarantee?

Yes. New accounts get a free trial period with full feature access. If you're not satisfied within 14 days of your first paid subscription, we refund the first month. Cancel anytime — no long-term contracts.

What happens if I need help or have a billing issue?

Direct email support is available Monday through Friday. Our help center has setup guides, common workflow walkthroughs, and video tutorials. No tiered support plans — every subscriber gets the same access. Response time is typically under 4 business hours.
