Material takeoffs from job site photos in minutes
Upload construction photos. Get accurate material quantities without manual measuring or estimating software. Spend less time on takeoffs and more time building.
How SnapTakeoff works
A streamlined photo-to-quantity workflow designed for contractors who need accurate takeoffs without dedicated office staff or expensive software.
Core workflow
Photo capture
Snap construction photos on your phone from any angle. No special equipment or lighting required. Our AI processes standard images.
Material extraction
Receive itemized material quantities with dimensions. AI identifies materials from lumber and drywall to flooring and roofing components.
Export and use
Download material lists as structured data or PDF. Use directly for supplier quotes, estimate inputs, or client proposals.
Operational fit
Mobile-first interface
Full functionality on phone or tablet at the job site. No desktop required to initiate or review takeoffs.
Revision support
Update quantities when scope changes. Re-run analysis on new photos without losing prior work or starting over.
Scope-specific outputs
Tailor material lists to project type: kitchens, bathrooms, additions, or whole-home renovations produce appropriately scoped results.
Contractor results
Solo and small GCs use SnapTakeoff to reduce bid prep time and compete more effectively on residential renovation projects.
Riverside Remodeling
Solo contractor cuts bid prep time by 60% with photo-based takeoffs
Handles 6-8 renovation bids weekly. Automated material lists freed 2+ hours per project without accuracy loss versus manual methods.

Common questions
What types of materials can SnapTakeoff identify?
SnapTakeoff supports residential construction materials including dimensional lumber, drywall, insulation, flooring (hardwood, laminate, tile), roofing materials, concrete and masonry, and standard plumbing and electrical rough-in components. The AI model handles common finish materials like cabinets, countertops, and fixtures. For specialized or non-standard materials, the system flags items requiring manual verification.
The underlying model was trained on US residential construction patterns and is optimized for the scale and specifications typical of renovation and small addition projects. Material recognition accuracy varies by photo quality and lighting conditions.
What photo quality is needed for accurate results?
Standard smartphone photos in adequate lighting produce reliable results for most residential materials. The system requires multiple angles of the work area and clear sight lines to the materials being quantified. Photos should show identifiable references—standard door openings, window frames, or known fixture sizes help calibrate dimensions.
Low light, heavy shadow, or heavily cluttered frames reduce accuracy. Blurry images from motion during capture also degrade results. The system provides feedback when photo quality may affect output reliability, prompting for retakes before finalizing quantities.
How is project data handled and protected?
Photo data is encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Project photos are retained for 30 days after the last activity, then automatically deleted unless you export and save them independently. SnapTakeoff does not use customer photos to train or improve its AI models.
Data handling complies with SOC 2 Type II requirements. Enterprise customers may request custom data retention terms and dedicated processing options through our sales team.
What does the subscription include?
The $79/month subscription includes unlimited photo uploads and takeoff generation for one user. Export functionality supports PDF reports and structured CSV/Excel formats for material lists. Standard support responds within one business day via email. The subscription auto-renews monthly with no long-term commitment—you can cancel at any time from your account settings.
Can I collaborate with subcontractors or suppliers?
Individual accounts are designed for solo users. You can share exported material lists via email or standard file sharing. The platform does not currently include real-time collaboration features, shared workspaces, or client portal access. These capabilities are on the roadmap for future releases.
What happens if the takeoff accuracy is insufficient?
Every takeoff output includes confidence indicators for each material line item. Low-confidence items are flagged for manual verification before you use the quantities in bids or orders. We recommend spot-checking results against field measurements for critical materials or high-dollar line items. If accuracy concerns persist on specific material types, our support team can provide usage guidance specific to your project categories.
